College is a time of training. Ultimately, the goal is a worthwhile and rewarding career after graduation. The Career Services Office is dedicated to serving Gardner-Webb students and alumni with an emphasis on two fundamental roles: aiding in career exploration and self-discovery, and providing a myriad or resources to aid in the job search process.

MISSION:
The mission of the Office of Career Services is to enhance career opportunities for Gardner-Webb students and alumni by maintaining partnerships between employers, graduate and professional schools and the university, thereby providing more opportunities for employment, further study, and career advancement.

PURPOSE:
The central purpose of Career Services is to help students prepare for academic and career success. Undergraduate and Graduate students are assisted with career assessment, values clarification, and occupational data to help them make informed choices of academic majors. Students are also provided opportunities for experiential learning (internships) and discovering the relationship of skills acquired to the broader work world. Career Services helps prepare Gardner-Webb University graduates to be successful candidates by helping them translate their academic and co-curricular experiences into successful job campaigns or graduate school applications.

CODE OF ETHICS:
The Career Services Office adheres to the code of ethics of the National Association of Colleges and Employers and operates within a Christian perspective. All services provided are confidential and no information will be given to others without the consent of the individual.

SERVICES:
Specific services include: a computerized career exploration program, SIGI Plus; an interest inventory, the Strong Interest Inventor, the MBTI; a web resume registration, internship resources; workshops on a wide range of topics from choosing an academic major to job search strategies; a career resource library; job listings for both part-time and full-time, including internships; annual events such as Career Fairs, The Metrolina Career Fair, Teacher Education Career Fair, Nursing Career Fair, Internship-Summer Job Fair, and Graduate School Day; and a website on the World Wide Web with a directory of helpful career and employment sites.

LOCATION:
Career Services is located on the Boiling Springs campus, the main University campus, in the Washburn Hall, open 8am-5pm Monday-Friday for students that have questions about resumes, job searching, cover letters, and more. Currently enrolled GWU students and GWU Alumni are eligible for all services.
