ACBSP Region 3 Conference
Call for Presentations
“Growth and Regrowth”
An exciting new program is being launched at our regional meeting this year. “Growth and Regrowth” is the theme of the ACBSP Annual Conference in New Orleans in 2008. While ACBSP will continue to conduct a Call for Presentations, a select number of slots have been set aside for a category titled “Best from the Regions”. If your presentation is selected for presentation at the Region 3 meeting, the officers and others will evaluate the quality of all presentations given and select one for presentation at the 2008 Annual Conference. More information is available in another section of this Call for Presentations.
Details on the Region 3 Meeting
The region is composed of the following states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The 2007 Regional Meeting will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina hosted by Gardner-Webb University.
The dates of the meeting are October 4-6, 2007. Lodging will be provided at the Holiday Inn at a group rate of $99. Please make your reservations by September 15. Registration fees are $100 before September 3 and $125 after September 3. The fees will include attendance at all business meetings and all meals on Friday including the Dinner Theatre. The educational presentations will be made on Thursday and Friday. Three presentations will be selected. A committee may be appointed to judge the presentations or each member wishing to vote will be provided a ballot to vote for the best presentations. Each member must attend all the presentations to vote. The votes will be counted and the winner announced at the end of the sessions on Friday.
All presenters selected will be responsible for payment of all costs to attend the Region 3 meeting including the registration fee. All presenters must be registered at the time their request to present at the meeting is reviewed on September 20 or it will not be considered.

The theme “Growth and Regrowth”
The selected theme for the 2008 Annual Conference brings together several themes. It will be the 20th annual meeting and anniversary of the founding of ACBSP. During this time ACBSP has confronted challenges that led to lapses in growth and even decline. While these challenges have been overcome, other challenges continue. That is the history of our destination as well. Hurricane Katrina presents challenges for all of New Orleans and for business schools and programs in the city.
What are the challenges your business school or program encountered in your history? How were these challenges overcome? What were the documented results of overcoming these challenges? The challenges for education in the recent past have been accommodating diversity, implementing assessment, the technological revolution, online learning, and increasing demands from government and accrediting agencies to document results. There are a variety of challenges that give a wide opportunity for concurrent session presentations.
Has your school or program experienced a challenge, and how was it dealt with, that significantly altered the future growth of the school or program? Does your business school or program have a plan for certain scenarios that could challenge your growth that you can share with others? A presentation that shares these experiences and suggested practices is another focus of these sessions.
Selection for Participation in the ACBSP 2008 Annual Conference
The region officers and others evaluating the quality of each presentation in their region reserve the right not to recommend any presentation for participation in the ACBSP Annual Conference. This factor may be influenced by a very small number of presentations submitted in response to the Call for Presentations and by a small number of presentations being presented at the regional meeting. The presentation must be of high quality to be selected.
If your presentation is selected you are invited to make the presentation as part of the educational track during the ACBSP 2008 Annual Conference titled “Growth and Regrowth” and identified as a “Best from the Regions.” The Conference will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 20-23, 2008. Lodging will be provided at Marriott on Canal Street at a group rate of approximately $165 per person per night. Advance registration fees will be approximately $480 for members. All presenters selected will be responsible for payment of all costs. Presenters receive a 50% on the registration fee. If the presentation involves more than one person, only one person per presentation will be granted the discount.
For more information on the ACBSP Annual Conference, please check the ACBSP Web site, www.acbsp.org beginning in November or call the ACBSP office, 913-339-9356.
